Siege Rules - Blood in the Badlands

In  the continuing series of  'out of nowhere' releases from GW, we're getting the first reports of a new hardback campaign book for warhammer called Blood in the Badlands on warseer, the first of several, according to rumour. The blurb goes thus:

'Blood in the Badlands is a 96 page hardback campaign book for Warhammer. Inside you'll find new background, a complete set of campaign rules, four massive multi-player scenarios, a Warhammer Siege expansion as well as additional rules for playing Warhammer in vast caverns below ground. All this is framed within an exciting studio campaign, as eight players, including the White Dwarf team, seek to carve out the largest empire so the ensorcelled castle, Fozzrik's Flying Fastness, will land in their realm and its amazing treasures within can be claimed.'

At £20, this seems a pretty decent price for what sounds like all sorts of fun. I'm a major siege fan, so I'm hoping there might be a plastic kit or two to go along with this release. I'm hoping naval rules are coming along in this series too, and I must say I'm loving the direction GW are taking with 8th ed. I can barely keep up with all the warhammer goodness flowing out of Nottingham these days. Long may it continue.

  1. I too am very happy with the direction GW are taking things with 8th ed, and if the £20 price tag is accurate that's a really good deal. Didn't realise about the underground aspects either - a chance to dig out the old dungeon floor plans - wonderful!

  2. I too like the idea of Seige and Campaign, but I do want to see 9th released.

  3. The only thing I don't like about this book is that it is apparently a limited-numbers type of release. Otherwise I'm really excited about it as I enjoy siege games and have always wanted to play some underground battles.

  4. I noticed that on the GW site, which was a little surprising. They like their short-run limited edition stuff these days. I had hoped this was a more permanent addition to the system.

I pre-ordered anyhow, it's less than 20 euro on Maelstrom (for those that can order it from there) with the ITS-CHRISTMAS-2011 voucher. It's good till the 4th December.

  5. Yeah, this is awesome news. Super psyched about this. I'll try and see if I can get a copy a couple of days early and see what it's all about. If the siege rules are even halfway decent, the potentitial for cool Fantasy campaigns will have increased significantly! Can't wait!

  6. Same here. While it all sounds good, for me it's the siege rules. Jervis Johnson wrote them, so that's a good sign.

  7. Ha! I love the picture of the ancient mighty fortress...I have that baby sitting in the basement right now. Might have to bust it out and get some paint on it...I've only had it for like 20 years...:)

  8. Oh yeah. That's the fortress I have too, it's been stormed innumerable times over the years. I love it, it's a great set.
