Genestealer Cult - Test Model Finished

After some considerable tooing and frooing, the test model for the cult is done. Trying to marry the aesthetics of the Adeptus Mechanicus and a genestealer cult took some mulling, but I think I have a reasonable handle on it. Essentially whenever I come across a stumbling block I'll just refer to one of my Giger art books. Job done.

The paint scheme came together once I lightened the skin, going much paler than originally anticipated. I did consider making it a much cooler tone, shading with blues and purples, but the fleshier shading sits better I think. The base is pretty neutral, which is as well considering the amount of colours in the scheme.

Here's some more views of our neophyte and his late grandad.

Next up will be some of his squad, including a particularly hulking 2nd gen special weapon carrier.

    1. Thanks. So far so good I think, not every model will be so colourful, but overall this will be the effect of the scheme.

  2. It looks splendid, both interms of pose and attitude. I'm not sure about the green weapon. It has a military aspect but a neutral grey would have kept the colourscheme tighter. On another hand those kind of things only really show in huge groups. Loking forward to seeing th erest of the group.

    1. Cheers. I like the green for the weapon housing, but as you say, we'll see how it works in a squad. I have to be careful to keep the range of colours down on each individual, but as units I think a red robed hybrid next to a purple carapaced one and so on should be okay. Fingers crossed.

  3. Creepy and nightmarish. An army of these will be a disturbing sight.

  4. He looks great! Also, great minds must think alike. I've just been working on some AdMech themed genestealers, by combining servitors with genestealers.

    1. Sounds good, I've been thinking of ways to make my own stealers a little more themed. I might use the Space Hulk ones.

Great work, great use of all the different bits, and nicely painted too.
