Judgement Day Post 18 - Karpov MF7 Sentenoid

Today's Judgement Day submission is the Karpov MF7 Sentenoid. Deployed to support the Sov invasion of Mega City One, this robot was a mainstay of the Sov forces during the Apocalypse War, one electrocuted Mega City One judge at a time.

I've been ticking away at the Sentenoid for a while now. It comes in eleven parts, and I pinned the hell out of it. It required minimal clean-up. It's attached to the base by only two of the four legs, so pinning was the only way. I wanted to go nuts on the base too. The Sentenoid takes up very little of the actual base, so I had plenty of room for a dead Mega City One judge and some Apocalypse War paraphernalia. The truly devoted might recognise the leaflets scattered about the base.

It's a very nice model when it's all together, and surprisingly large. I also tried out AK Interactive's Fuel Stain effect on some of the vents and such. It's a nice oily, glossy finish. A little hard to see on the photos, but it adds another level of interest to the model. They are oil-based, but that's no real impediment. They do a great range, so well worth checking out.

With the Sentenoid finished, that completes the Sov Invasion box minis. Here's the whole gang:

There's only one more Sov left in my radar now, the main man himself. I've been looking forward to getting a brush at him for some time now.

Next week Cheetor gives us his latest slide of 28mm Judge Dredd fun.

  1. That must have been a monster to assemble ! The end result feels very natural on the base and the group shot really shows the overall coherence which is great.
    Nice work.

  3. I thought I had found the perfect robot until I just read it comes in 11 pieces, so I will give that one a swerve.

Your paintjob is fab. Any chance of a tutorial or a list of paints you used?

    1. I wouldn't let that put you off, The legs are the only bit that needs a bit of consideration.

Thanks for the kinds words, paints are as follows, all GW:

Metal: Base, Boltgun Metal, washed with Nuln Oil diluted with Lahmian medium, then washed with Guilliman Blue, also diluted, then a recess wash of Thraka Green. drybrushed with Necron Compound, then a line highlight with Mithril Silver. Dark metal is the same, just the base is mixed 50:50 with black.

Green body: Base Castellan Green, wash with Thraka Green, edge highlighted up to 50:50 Castellan Green:Golden Yellow. Glaze with Waywatcher Green.

The concrete on the base is: Fortress Grey, wash the Reikland Fleshshade, recess wash with Agrax Earthshade. Drybrush with Fortress Grey, Skull White, Necron Compound. Wet blend Typhus Corrosion into the recesses and to create general grime.

The road surface is just a dark grey washed with Nuln Oil, drybrushed up to Codex Grey and then given some patches of Typhus Corrosion.

I hope that's of some use!

  4. A day early, a dangerous precedent ;)

Really nice work. That group shot makes me feel like I need to upgrade my thrill-buffers. Orlok couldnt make the photo shoot? Busy sabotaging weather control Ill warrant.

While the model is nice on its own, the interesting details on the base really tie it all together. Lovely.

    1. Yes, a matter of clicking a couple of pixels too far to the left when scheduling the day of publication had the post publish at midnight Saturday instead of Sunday. Oopsies.

Thanks for the groovy feedback, I very much enjoyed this one. Orlok wasn't in the Sov Invasion box and so had to sit that one out. Painting an entire box set is a rare accomplishment, and I felt a class photo was in order.

    1. My undead are always whispering for me to pick up another. On that note, I have been gearing up to paint a skeleton unit. I have two sad skellies awaiting some comrades.

    2. Cannot wait then!
Your stuff is just inspiring and motivates me to give oldie Warhammer one more chance!

    3. Thanks Demi, that's very kind of you! Undead were my first love, and I do enjoy painting them very much indeed. You're making me want to build and paint that undead violinist musician I've been looking at.

    4. Do it then!
My task is bit more tricky - I sold my army years back so now I just need to rebuild whole force.
On the other hand it's a chance to collect everything totally anew, themed army - similar to your work.
I think I'll go and write some background... ;-)

    5. A solid plan. I find a theme/backstory increases the enjoyment of putting the army together immensely, and also provides for a coherency that looks great on the gaming table.
